The Discovery

On a quiet farm near Baberspan in the North West, we met Tannie Annalize, a farmer’s wife known for her hearty cooking and her steadfast slicer.

For over a hundred years, her family had used the same cast-iron hand slicer, a relic from the early 1900s, passed down through generations. Its blade, never once sharpened, still glides through frozen chicken, fruit, and vegetables like a hot knife through butter.

When we saw it in action, we knew we were looking at more than just a tool. We studied Tannie Annalize’s slicer down to every curve, screw, and sweep of the blade. From that, we crafted the Annalize 1, a modern homage to a timeless original.

The Legacy

The original design of these old-world slicers dates back to the early industrial era, when craftsmanship was measured in decades, not trends.

Built from cast iron and wood, they were made to last lifetimes, serving butchers, grocers, and home cooks alike across the world. Every turn of the handle spoke of precision engineering, of steel forged to endure, and of wood shaped to fit the human hand.

In the North West, one of those slicers survived the test of time — and it inspired the rebirth of a legend.
